We are currently staying at the BIG 4 caravan park of Batehaven, very close to Batemans bay.
We had a few sunny and hot days but some more rain recently and the temperatures dropped.
The caravan park is well equipped with a pool, playground, jumping pillows and a fantastic, modern, very impressive camp kitchen!
We are doing a few day trips from there. We went to Pebbly beach one morning to try and spot some kangaroos. Nina saw a few further up the hill. No kangaroos were on the beach this time.
Sunday, 28th was a day to remember. At around 8am, a staff member from the caravan park told us to evacuate the park asap due to a tsunami warning! So we packed up the kids, our passports, our laptop and drove off (without the caravan of course) to the next hill. We actually drove further south. We passed the little mining town Mogo but unfortunately all the shops were closed. We stopped at Moruya for breakfast.
After breakfast we drove further to Central Tilba, which has historic buildings and shops. Cute little town.
Considering we left the caravan park in a rush and without plans that morning, it turned out to be a nice day, which was great! And luckily-more importantly-the tsunami didn't hit the coast that day and so we didn't find our caravan under water! Sorry, there are no pictures about Mogo and Central Tilba. I forgot to take our camera with us that day.
Today we drove to Tuross lake, beautiful spot. It was a good choice as it was very sunny there-unlike in Batemans bay where it was grey and dull. We enjoyed a nice coffee at the Tuross boat shed cafe that overlooks the lake. The place was recommended in a touristic brochure; they are famous for their yummy casual lunches.
Then we spent the rent of the afternoon at Tuross beach, nice spot too. There were lot's of fishermen and a few were lucky with their catch. Nina and Annabelle did a bit of "sandboarding" on a little sand dune. They had lot's of fun.
The caravan park there looked great. Absolute waterfront! check it out: www.turossbeachholidaypark.com.au.
